Jizo Bodhisattva - Fine Bone China - 11"

Beautifully cast in a choice of translucent pale-rose matte or pure-white matte fine bone china, our porcelain sitting Jizo Bosatsu, depicted as a Buddhist monk with a shaved head, holds the "jewel of wisdom" in his lap. He is a savior bodhisattva who has vowed to compassionately help sentient beings until the coming of Maitreya, the Buddha of the Future. Jizo is revered as the protector of women, ailing children and travelers; especially those traveling in the "between states" from this life to the next. His childlike image encourages parents to see him alternately as an innocent child and a gentle savior. This remarkable porcelain figurine is 11" high x 8" wide. Made in Taiwan.
